I was born and educated in Troon, in the South West coast of Scotland. I grew up with two core interests which have accompanied me since I was young. A fascination with the sea, or to be more accurate, what is under the surface, and nature in all it’s forms, particularly birds. My interest in photography started at an early age with the aim of capturing birds on film with a Russian Zenith SLR and I went on to study Biology at university. Time has always been an issue and getting my ‘fix’ with both has always been complicated but I have recently tried to reorganise my life in order to give more time to enable me to carry out a couple of projects. Both will be challenging as both in part mean learning new techniques and disciplines but what is not to look forward to in that? I am especially exited about a recent return to film and a jump to large format involving the wet plate process. I have set up this website in order to share my experiences and hope you enjoy the occasional visit to see what is new.
